DRCS has successfully gained the opportunity to create four Mental Health Support Team’s (MHST) as part of the government’s green paper ambitions to transform mental health support in England.

We are now looking for an extremely experienced dynamic Team Manager, who can take the lead for the new trail blazing MHST based in Kingsmead Pupil Referral Unit in Derby City. This is a rare opportunity to develop a ground breaking service in specialised settings. The manager will be responsible for the leadership and management of the MHST, who will provide support for all the Special Education Needs schools and Pupil Referral Units across Derbyshire County. Your team will deliver low intensity and short-term support to all the pupils and their families, ensuring rapid onward access to relevant specialist services within Derbyshire when required. The team will be working closely with wider children’s services and will support educational staff with training and consultation as well as assessment and direct support.

You will work closely with our other MHST team managers based in Bakewell, Bolsover and Ilkeston. You will ensure the voice of children, young people and their families and education colleagues are heard, to find new and innovative ways of working to best meet their needs. The team will be based on site in the PRU and travel to all the schools who will be making referrals to the MHST.

The Changing Lives Team Manager will ensure the team fulfils its core offer of services whilst maintaining a clinical input. The post holder will co-ordinate children and young people’s care, referring on as necessary and offering evidence-based interventions to support children and young people’s behavioural and mental health.

The post holder will be an experienced, qualified therapist and/or have a relevant core profession, with experience of providing supervision to senior practitioners and also have strong experience of leading a team. You will have the autonomy to support local and national developments and will have responsibility for a cohort of Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioners and the successful completion of their training programme and qualification.
