Frequently asked questions
- What is the training about? In the UK despite the legal and social progress for LGBT+ people in the twenty first century, evidence across the board suggests that this masks experiences on the ground, where LGBT+ people can still be marginalised and stigmatised.
- Will this touch on reparative therapy? Yes. Despite the widespread professional condemnation of reparative approaches, evidence suggests that reparative beliefs are still surprisingly common amongst mental health professionals, fed by the current impasse in legislative proposals to outlaw this practice.
- What is the aim? To provide a safe and supportive space in which a range of professionals can explore the nature of affirmative v reparative approaches with LGBT+ clients, personally and professionally via an experiential workshop.
