Derwent Rural Counselling Service (DRCS) joined ThinkFest! as it returned to Chesterfield for 2023 bigger and better than ever.
Derwent Rural Counselling Service (DRCS) joined ThinkFest! as it returned to Chesterfield for 2023 bigger and better than ever.
ThinkFest!, organised by The Derbyshire Recovery and Peer Support Service, The Georgia Bird Foundation and Chesterfield Borough Council, is the county’s only festival to get people thinking and talking about mental health, and showcases what the county has to offer in terms of support.
Visitors packed the streets of Chesterfield town centre to access help and information on mental health issues from more than 20 stalls and were also joined by performers, speakers and live music.
DRCS’ stall was manned by Amanda Wilshaw and Apryl Malone, whilst Clinical Lead Kim Heappey and Psychotherapist Helen Newton were on hand to offer support if the public wished to talk.
Helen Newton, self-employed therapist at DRCS said: “It was really important for DRCS to be included in ThinkFest! as part Mental Health Awareness Week. Not only did we promote the services and support we offer, but also stood alongside other mental health providers and charities, as we continue to be part of the conversation that everyone needs to have about mental health.”
Amanda Wilshaw added: “It was perfect weather for the 2023 ThinkFest! and showcased the breadth of help that is out there.
“DRCS was, as ever, one of the busiest stalls constantly giving information to people who felt they needed our services. It was also a great opportunity to spread the word of our new offices, consultation and meeting rooms to be opening this summer at the Old Registry Offices on New Beetwell Street.”
DRCS offers counselling services, including talking therapies and well-being programmes in Derbyshire and the Peak District, to help individuals with common mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, stress and long term conditions, through face to face, online and phone appointments. It also offers programmes and courses to businesses and organisations.
